Debate forum

I thought about what Mike said about making this blog interesting. And I came up with an idea (don't know if it's a good one or not, yet). In Norway we have a comedy duo called Bård Tufte and Harald Eia. They had a legendary sketch in their TV program called "Lillelørdag" about what was the best pommes frites (or frensh fries): the one with wavy texture or the smooth one.

Maybe this can provoke you to express your passionate view on the matter, and contribute to a heated discussion.

First debate: Laptop: mac or PC?
Come on, get in there and put forward your strong argument for which one is the best. And feel free to trash the other. The argument can be as serious as you want it to be.

I prefer to use the Windows OS for laptops out of a strange habit since most wireless networks I've been using have problems with Macs even if they're based on a Linux server architecture. As a student of our University of Flensburg, I may use a special loan (named "Campus-Credit" for the "Notebook University") to finance my laptop (Acer Travelmate 290). Basically, there's no chance to get this loan to accquire a Mac. However, I could use Linux instead of Windows, but Windows is just easier to use than Linux.

Overall, I don't enjoy using Microsoft, but with the protectional software I've been installing, I haven't faced any true kind of abuse of my system.

Mac is fundamentally no different than Windows, based on mousing around from one Window and button to the next. There are some various feature differences but they both have the same basic interfacing: Mouse, windows and buttons.

One thing though, when observing experienced Mac users, I see they are still "mousing" around alot, instead of using shortcuts and keyboard input in general. I guess this is due to the lack of tabbing between buttons, when the default active button is the opposite of what you might want, you are forced to mouse your way to the other button (the one not in focus/blue). This as well as the window clutter of the Mac OS is what keeps me from using it.

There might be a way of dealing with this tabbing of the focus, but no Mac-user I have spoken to has been able to show me how yet. I havent figured it out myself either, on my iMac running on OSX.

Its all the same, one has a feature the other doesnt... so what feature is most important to you?...

I can help you! It's sad when people have a Mac and don't rejoys over it... In MAC OSX you can use shortcuts for almost whatever you want to. You can browse you to the file or just make it apear... WOW magic. Yes! That's the differense between Mac and Windows. The feeling, the passion, the experience and the Joy of using it!
